How to improve concentration in children?

Parents always ask me ...how to improve my child's concentration who is 3 years old?

Some of the easy things that will give you surprising results on concentration problems in children and help your hyper active kids to settle down:

  • Puzzles- Kids are always curious to know hidden things. When a puzzle is into pieces; it attracts kids to know the original picture hidden in it. The child will be focussed to do it till completion. This is how they sit for 15 minutes or more too
  • Coloring- No matter if your child is good or bad at it. But all the kids just love to play with colors. Give them the freedom. Let them spoil colors and papers. You can even expose them to water colors which they are really excited about. Just scribbling also has it's role in the brain activation.
  • Drawing- Drawing at this age, doesn't mean drawing an object. But tracing a given picture, joining the dots, activities like joining numbers 1-10 which will make a picture....are very good drawing options which improve kids' concentration.
  • Music- This works for all age groups. Listening to a soft, classical, instrumental music calms you down. Your brain activities decrease. And you are focused in what you are doing.
  • Stories- We see kids always demanding for a story. They just love stories as their mom. I challenge, if you are telling an interesting story to your child; he would be 100% focused and wouldn't feel like moving from the place for 20 minutes minimum. Which is actually an achievement.

Try these tips for improving concentration in children. We look forward to listen from you on what other practical tips you can suggest on parenting.

  1. From the above tips music n scribbling do wonders..

For my one n half year old, giving a basket full of small clothes generally his own also works for abt 15 mins..he keeps removing n arranging clothes in his own way!
Also, a small quantity of water and 3-4 bowls with a spoon...it ensures he is engrossed for atleast half n hour...putting water from one bowl to another....though he doesnt drink ot..i ensure clean vessels and drininkg water ..i do not of this works for slightly older kids..as they would beed something more novel..
