Message for Ganesh Chaturthi

Ganesh (गणेश) means the team leader. "Gan" means team and "Ish" means leader. Same is the meaning of word Ganapati (गणपति). This is the ideal lord of leaders.

Now let's look at each of his features Ganesha deity...
1. He has a huge head. This depicts mindfulness and thoughtfulness which is a must for the leader.
2. His big nose (शुण्डा) to means one who can smell the problem and plan before it becomes fire.
3. He has got a large belly. This means to me the who can keep things confidential.
4. He is married to Riddhi and Siddhi. Riddhi means what's fair and Siddhi means success. So he take both being fair and being successful as two sides of a coin which are inseparable.

Lot can be learnt if one meditates on Ganesh ji. Opportunity to do so is called Ganesh Chaturthi (गणेश चतुर्थी). Isn't it exciting and worth taking benefit of :-)

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated on Shukla Chaturthi of the Hindu month of Bhadra or bhadrapada (भाद्रपद) (generally falls between August and September)

All the flowers, decoration, mantra, songs, Aarti and sweets are for one to get into a tranquil mood and bust stress. Once achieved this tranquility should allow the devotee to get into deeper meditation which is called Bhakti. So let this petty things not get more importance as they are just a means to the end.

।। श्री गणेशाय नमः ।।
