Dussera is one of the most celebrated festival of India. This is one festival which is celebrated across the country with equal importance.
We consider this to be a celebration for victory of the Good over the Evil by all means. The one important massage is that howsoever tough the fight may be, the good always survives over the evil. (सत्यमेव जयते).
It encompasses many historical stories like Ram defeating Ravan in the great epic of Ramayan or the Devi defeating the Demon Mahisasur. In near history too, RSS the biggest Hindu Sangatan infact the largest volunteer driver organization of the world was started by Dr. Keshva Baliram Hedgewar on the auspicious day of Vijaya Dashami.
In Muhurt for doing good thing, this is the day when anytime is a great time to do good things. Lot of inaugurations, gruh Pravesh, openings, purchasing of assets like cars, scooters, televisions happen on this day.
Dussera is also considered as day of worshipping arms, ammunition and equipment. India would be the only country which sees life not only in animals, plantation but also in things like arms. It connects emotions to arms by worshipping them and conveys that there is nothing wrong in using these when our Dharma is in danger. Sikh gurus said keep arms with you always. No god or goddess of this country would be found armless. Even though we are peace lovers and want the world to be one family, we shall not shy away to lift arms and destroy evil energy if time demands.
In Maharashtra, people distribute a leaf as symbol of gold to each other. This is a symbol of richness and generosity that this country had. People used to distribute gold on such occasions. Who says we were a country of paupers? We chose to remain simple and down to the earth. That doesn't mean we were poor.
Vijaya Dashami is festival of Displaying capabilities or Shakti pradasrshan. It's the day when we should be displaying our capabilities so as to keep the evil under a check.
On this occasion, lets all unite and pray for great future of this country and thereby our society. A very Happy Dussera to one and all☺
